Passenger kills motorcyclist over N50 fare in Enugu

A motorcyclist, Michael Eze, has been killed by his passenger during an argument over an additional N50 fare in the Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Eye-witness account explains that the deceased motorcyclist told the passenger, Michael Gabriel, to add N50 to their initially agreed fare when he realised that the distance was longer than presumed.

This led to an argument between them and a fight. Gabriel was said to have found a rod around, which he hit the victim with and he died on the spot.

He was rushed to a private hospital in the community where he was confirmed dead.

A trader who witnessed the issue said, “When the rider saw that the house was farther than what Garbiel described to him, he insisted that N50 must be added to the fare they agreed on. That was what led to the disagreement.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Amaraizu Ebere, confirmed the incident and said investigation was ongoing.
