Team Civil Defence has landed their first win of the season in the on-going NCC Tennis League as they hit Team Oluyole 7-0 in Ibadan.

The Abuja-based side had lost 3-4 at home to Team Muller of Lagos, in the season’s opener, but regained their rhythm in Ibadan last weekend.

Team Civil Defence secured the four needed points on the opening day to win the fixture.

Nonso Maduekwe began the day’s 4-0 episode at the Lekan Salami Stadium tennis courts as he defeated Kunle Bamidele 6-1, 6-2 in the men’s singles.

Another home-boy, Salami Ganiyu, in the men’s singles, bowed to former national champion, Clifford Enosorogbe 6-2, 6-4.

In the ladies singles, youngster, Kaosarat Adegboyega, who made her debut in the NCC League, bowed to the Dala Hard Court title holder, Christy Agugbom, in a match, which almost turned to a one-sided affair with the scoreline as 6-0, 6-1.

Kaosarat, who impressed many spectators at the terrace after losing the first set, however, came back stronger to win the first game in the second set to the surprise of many, but was unable to match the fireworks from the 2008 and 2014 CBN champion, Agugbom, in the remaining games.
